Choosing the Right Doctor is Important

Choosing the right physician is a very important decision when it comes to our health care. All of us want competent, caring, and compassionate care when seeking help or advice for our health issues. When you or a family member decides to take the next steps to transform and sculpt your body by losing inches of fat from the hips, waist, thighs and other stubborn areas, you want a highly skilled and qualified physician dedicated to providing professional, skilled, and conscientious service.

Paul Thaxton, MD

Dr. Thaxton, a native Georgian, earned his BS degree in chemistry from the University of Georgia and subsequently graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his internship at Eugene Talmadge Memorial Hospital, now known as GRU Medical Center, and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Georgia. He was awarded the W.G. Watson award as most outstanding Chief Resident during his residency and started his private practice in Augusta in 1977.

Dr. Thaxton is Board Certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; he is a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; and a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Georgia and has been twice honored with the Resident’s Teacher of the Year Award and is past president of the Augusta Ob-Gyn Society.

He has  been honored in the annual Augusta Magazine Best of Augusta awards program and has been chosen by his peers as one of the Best Doctors in America several times.

Even though he had been trained as a traditional, allopathic Ob-Gyn physician, over the years Dr. Thaxton saw more and more of his patients with quality of life issues and symptoms of chronic diseases that motivated him to seek answers to the dilemmas they were experiencing. He found that lifestyle choices, overweight and obesity are associated with many of his patients’ problems. To better understand these disease relationships, Dr. Thaxton began studying Medical Bariatric and Functional Medicine with the intent of helping his patients not only live longer, but live healthier, more enjoyable, and more productive lives. In addition to being Board Certified in Ob-Gyn, Dr. Thaxton now is also Board Certified by the American Board of Bariatric Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Following successful weight loss, many of his patients began improving their self-esteem and started asking what else could be done to further improve their self-image. These requests inspired Dr. Thaxton to research numerous invasive and non-invasive options for body slimming. That is why he chose to offer Zerona, the world leader in non-invasive body contouring technology and the first ever FDA-cleared low-level laser for the purpose of fat reduction.

A History of High Standards

Zerona was FDA Cleared 510 (k) for the safe and effective circumferential reduction of the hips, waist, and thighs in 2010 and for the upper arms in 2012. Since then, Zerona has been certifying providers to help assure patients that these providers are qualified to provide the best expert care to attain the best results possible. To become licensed and certified, a provider must pass ZERONA certification tests, along with on-going training on the latest techniques to ensure patients are satisfied with their results.
